MICROWAVE RADAR
Purpose and Application: An array of solenoidal superconducting magnet coils can great magnetic field profiles in a microwave cavity so high power microwave transmission modes can be amplified in applications involved in high power radar imaging and jamming. Being considered by the Army in mobile applications using helicoptors and Humvees.
Example: A superconducting system consisting of an array of 14 solenoid coils inside a compact vacuum vessel is shown being tested at General Atomics. The system was delivered to the Naval Research Laboratory in 1992 for further testing.
